The Beginning of an Adventure...
Updated: Sep 14, 2022
Wow. This is it, friends and family. My first public post. Even the font is so, official. Shivers. And a breath. Business first. A content warning, if you will; I write run on sentences, use so many more hypens and parentheses than were ever (probably) intended, and my grammar is almost certainly not correct English. So...good luck navigating my writing? I hope it is enjoyable though, or at least gets the main points across. I suppose that is the purpose of a travel blog....
And, as is classic Jerica, I successfully procrastinated writing this until the last possible minute of my self-imposed deadline. (Really though, would anybody have expected me to complete this early for something like revisions? You are in for a hell of a ride if your answer was yes.)
Thank you for visiting! I currently have 3 days before my flight to London, and I have successfully acquired the long-sought-after passport, my living room is stacked with empty boxes and bags waiting to go in the recycling bin, and I desperately need to clean before I leave (embarrassing, I know). But here I am - finishing up my website and sharing it to adhere to my self-imposed deadline, and learning to trust myself when I make promises. And facing my fear. That's a big one. Probably worth mentioning. Yup.
Do I have any fun stories to share yet? Not quite yet. The anticipation of the trip has me all wound up, and I can't wait. But I will have stories for you; I booked a walking tour in London that is scary and haunted, so I'm sure I will have a great story for you about how I convinced a 10-year-old kid to go first, or how I awkwardly laughed too loud and the group unanimously decided to leave me behind in the haunted corridors- or something like that. I also have plans to meet up with an old friend in London - Scotty, I can't wait to see you! - visit Stonehenge and Oxford, see SO MANY shows at Fringe in Edinburgh, stay in old castles in Ireland, plus all the things that are not planned.
This is going to be one hell of a trip. What a way to get back into traveling.
I hope you enjoy the blog and website. I hope I stick with it - if anything, to keep all of you updated on my whereabouts and adventures, and also to get over that fear of sharing my writing. You are my friends and family; you are the best people to face that fear with. (Hopefully my writing grows, for your sake, and probably future Jerica's.)
Thank you for being here. Happy Thursday everybody! I will see you all next week, writing from London!
Oh, yes- let me know if you have recommendations. I love recommendations.
See you in a week!

I hope it goes really well for you! Explore the different cuisines and eat as much food as you can! Talk to the right kind of strangers! I will happily (and begrudgingly) read through all of your grammatically incorrect adventures!
